About the Potts Point Partnership

Advocacy

Building a strategic framework, building a brand and building business
Advocacy

Founded in 2002 - The Potts Point Partnership is a not-for-profit organisation focussed on supporting and promoting the local businesses of the precinct.

We currently have a membership of approximately 120 local businesses, including retail, cafes and restaurants, professional services and licensed venues.

We have a strong working relationship with local government and work closely with the City of Sydney to advocate for our local businesses and promote the precinct.

We are the organisation advocating for our local community on the area's key issues, including noise, garbage, traffic and safety concerns.

We will focus on three key areas to Build a Better Precinct for businesses and residents:

Building a strategic framework

The local community faces a number of ongoing challenges, particularly in areas such as noise, late-night trading and social issues. As the business community’s representative, the Partnership takes a leading role in these debates, utilising a strategic advocacy approach with the ultimate aim of achieving the Partnership’s vision.

Building a brand

A better profile for local area means better business for our members. We will develop and implement PR, marketing and advertising actions to raise the area’s profile. For example, over the last few years, the Partnership has delivered certain projects including the Shop Local campaign and the Kings Cross Festival.

Building business

We aim to make it easier for our members to do business, and provide opportunities for them to grow their business network. We offer members a range of support services and organise regular networking and educational opportunities.

Vision

Our vision is to build a diverse and sustainable business community which draws strength from the Potts Point and Kings Cross districts' unique history, multiple identities and central location.
Vision

Through fostering partnerships, we will ensure that the area remains cosmopolitan, energetic, culturally rich and economically prosperous. In adopting this vision we recognise that:

Kings Cross

Kings Cross is an inner city precinct: complex, tolerant, diverse and dynamic. With whispers of old bohemia, and lashings of elegant naughtiness, it is alive with activity - mostly fun, some ugly and all nakedly human.

Potts Point

Potts Point is a metropolitan milieu of style, grace, money and power, dining and the designer, glamour and the urbane, It is where modern society eats, lives and sleeps.

A Dichotomy

This juxtaposition of two opposites - forms the one diverse, modern and tolerant society that make up our most urban of communities.
