2009 Festival - inspirations from across the globe

The 2009 Kings Cross Festival is set to be the biggest yet. The emphasis this year is on flavour, quality and inspiration.

Festival ambassador Maeve O’Meara, award-winning food and cooking author, broadcaster, journalist, television producer and presenter, heads a star Festival cast which includes the wines of local resident, Sir James Hardy and Constellation Wines Australia, the food and atmosphere of Gazebo Wine Garden and Sugarmill Hotel, fine ales from Bryon Bay Brewery and Bitburger as well as fabulous cuisine from chefs Harunobu Inukai, (Blanc Haru) Angelo Italiano (Mezzaluna) and Ngoc Ha ( Q Vietnamese ) to name a few.

The Festival is on Sunday 3 May 2009 between 10am and 5pm under the trees in Fitzroy Gardens beside the El Alamien fountain in Macleay Street,Potts Point.

Food, wine, art, music and dance from across the globe will transport visitors to exotic locations through taste, sight and sound without even leaving the neighbourhood.

The event will host fresh and flamboyant flavours and sounds from Australia alongside tantalizing treats from Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Mexico, Cuba, France, Italy, England, Germany, and Austria.

The expected 12 000-15 000 visitors will not only sample some of the best food in town but also enjoy a concert like no other,combined with a Potts Point pooch parade and show.

Entertainers will include big and small sounds from police and navy bands interspersed with local jazz artists, dancers and fabulous compering by Verushcha Darling.

Look out for the interactive food demonstrations and some great information on sustainable and ethical eating. Our award winning Chef’s and restaurants are leaders in the field and the festival prides itself on its promotion of these values.
